QwertyWorks, the Filipino-owned and operated multilingual solutions company that includes Touchbase (www.translation.com.ph), earned its ISO17100:2015 certification after passing a process audit in August 2020. This makes QwertyWorks the first & only firm in Southeast Asia to have been found compliant with what is considered the Gold Standard in Translation services globally.
Pandemic Lockdown Notwithstanding
The milestone was achieved despite the fact that the whole Philippines was under the strictest level of Community Quarantine due to the covid-19 pandemic. The audit was carried out online via zoom telecon, and participated in by all three (3) business units of QwertyWorks: Touchbase (Philippine languages), TeamGlocal (International Languages) and ToEnglish (backtranslation).
About ISO17100:2015
ISO17100:2015 is the most relevant quality standard for organizations providing translation, editing and proofreading. It calls for a workflow that spans a wide range of component activities, ranging from Recruitment (finding the most suitable translators), Project Management (communicating expectations and deliverables with the client), Actual Translation (adhering to quality assurance steps and processes), and even Post-delivery (ensuring that there is adequate support to address questions and issues that will arise after the project has been delivered). A company that is found to be compliant with the ISO17100:2015 means that its processes and deliverables are replicable, sound and professionally implemented -- and that most importantly, only the most suitable translation resources are utilized. This gives peace of mind to the customer and the readers that the translations they will be receiving are indeed, done by professionals.
